HBCUs are under intense pressure to grow enrollment. They also facing stiff competition by predominantly white universities and online degree programs. One key to increasing enrollment across HBCUs is by more deeply engaging current and prospective students and by enhancing the HBCU value proposition and the university’s brand.
So we examined how other universities are engaging prospective students and came up with 7 social media best practices that HBCUs can adopt to increase enrollment, engage students, and strengthen the school’s brand. By no means is this inclusive, and we are strong believers that social media and digital engagement should not be one off efforts but should be integrated into a marketing communications strategy that encompasses brand development, media, PR, and alumni engagement.
